Press Release – Manage Your Inner Imposter: Third International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day to Take Place on 13 April 2023

It is estimated that 70% of all employees experience some degree of imposter syndrome at work, and this figure is increasing. Imposter Syndrome is referring to an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be. It can be debilitating and affect the mental health of those who suffer from it greatly.

The aim of “International Impostor Syndrome Awareness Day” is to highlight imposter syndrome, how it affects people and to provide help and resources for those who are suffering from it. The day will have a series of events and talks including:

10.00am: Webinar – Imposter Syndrome and Intersectionality by Katie Humphrey
11.00am: Webinar – Reframe Your Imposter by Denise Chester
12.00pm: Q&A Session – The Link Between Narcissism and Imposter Syndrome with Dr Juliet Lyndle and Lisa Ventura
2.00pm: Webinar – Conquer Imposter Syndrome to Advance Your Career by Kim Meninger

As well as the online events on the day, there will also be an accompanying social media campaign with the hashtag #IISAD2023 to encourage discussion about imposter syndrome and now to manage it.

Lisa Ventura, Co-Founder of International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day, said: “As someone who has suffered from the debilitating effects of imposter syndrome for many years, I started to do some research into it and discovered that it is extremely common. I could never acknowledge my achievements without feeling as if I were a fraud, and I have learnt coping mechanisms for dealing with it. I’m delighted to team up with Nat Schooler and Kim Adele to raise awareness of it through the third awareness day that is dedicated to imposter syndrome.”

Nat Schooler, Co-Founder of International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day said: “We have recently put together a series of interviews with people who have suffered from the imposter syndrome phenomenon and our guests have kindly told their stories about when they experience imposter syndrome and how they handle it. Kim-Adele recently helped me overcome some self-confidence issues that were holding me back, without our work on the imposter syndrome series this would not have been possible, I am forever grateful that I’m free!”

Kim Adele, Co-Founder of International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day said: ‘’Having lived with Imposter Syndrome for nearly 30 years I know how debilitating it can be, and I also know that talking about it is the first step to regaining control.  It’s why I am so passionate about helping others who are struggling with their inner critic so they can regain control and live the life they dream of.”
